Quick reality check on production:
Every job is different, but a good baseline is about ~375 sq ft per painter per day under normal conditions.
That is often roughly 2 rooms with 2 coats per painter when prep is ready and the job is straightforward.
Ceilings, drywall repairs, trim detail, doors, heavy patching, furniture moving, detailed masking, and major color changes reduce production.
Production and What Gets Done
How much painting can be completed in one day? +
Production depends on prep, layout, and complexity. A useful baseline is about ~375 sq ft per painter per day under normal conditions. We have painted a full 2,000 sq ft interior in one day with a 5 person crew when prep and scope are organized, but every job is different.
What slows production down the most? +
Drywall repairs, heavy patching, ceilings, trim and doors, tight masking, furniture moving, wallpaper removal, stain or water spots, detailed prep, and major color changes all reduce production.
How do I maximize production on my job? +
Have rooms cleared, paint purchased, color decisions made, and access ready before we arrive. The more we can focus on painting, the more you get done. If we finish early, we can move to extra rooms, trim, touch-ups, or your punch list to maximize value.
Do you work a full 8 hours? +
Yes. You get 8 working hours. Breaks and lunch do not count toward your paid workday time.
What if the job needs more than one day? +
No problem. You can schedule an additional day or increase crew size to finish strong. We keep it simple: rent the crew again and continue production without starting over with some bloated new estimate.
Do you paint ceilings and do wall repairs? +
Yes. We do ceilings, drywall patching, minor fix-it services, handyman punch-list work as time allows, and general surface prep. Repairs take time and reduce total production, so we plan that upfront so expectations are clear.
Can you tell me how many rooms we can finish? +
Yes. Send photos if you want and we’ll give you a realistic plan based on layout, prep, and scope. A common baseline is about 2 rooms with 2 coats per painter on straightforward work, but repairs, trim detail, ceilings, doors, and layout all change it.
What if I don’t book enough painters for the job? +
No problem. If your job needs more production than expected, you can add another day or increase crew size. We will also guide you upfront if your project looks too large for your selected crew so you don’t waste time or money.
What if I book too many painters? +
If your project is smaller than expected, we will maximize your day by completing additional rooms, touch-ups, trim, doors, or punch-list items. Our goal is simple: you get full value out of your crew for the day.
Do you price per room? +
No. We price by day-rate production. Room pricing is often more marketing than reality. The cleanest and fairest way is to rent the crew for the day and maximize production. If you want a per-room idea, we can give you a rough expectation after seeing the scope.
Why are traditional estimate-based companies often overpriced? +
Many include salespeople, estimate appointments, office overhead, commissions, and markup. Some require deposits and then you still hope they show up and return. Our model is lean and production focused, so more of your money goes to actual work.
Why is your model better for people calling around? +
Because you pay for production, not sales overhead. You avoid the estimate circus and get a crew focused on output. Fast scheduling, clear expectations, and real work completed, with no deposit.
Are there surprise charges? +
No. You rent the crew for the day. If you want more done, add more tasks while we are there or schedule another day. Simple, transparent, and easy to understand.
Why don’t you charge per square foot or per room? +
Square foot and room pricing often hide inefficiencies, padding, or markup. We charge by real production time, so you know exactly what you’re paying for — a crew working a full day on your project.
How do I compare your pricing to other painting quotes? +
Ask them two simple questions: How many painters? and How many days? That usually reveals the real cost. We skip the guessing and give you that information upfront with clear day-rate pricing.
Materials, Equipment, and Paint Store Process
Who provides paint and materials? +
You purchase paint and materials such as paint, primer, caulk, and tape. This keeps pricing transparent and gives you full control over product choice. We provide labor and equipment.
Do you provide professional painting equipment? +
Yes. We bring standard professional painting equipment such as tools, roller frames, brushes, ladders, and related gear. Customers provide paint products and consumable materials. We’ll guide you on what to buy.
How do I know how much paint to buy? +
The paint store can estimate coverage and quantity. If you send photos and rough sizes, we can also give you a practical estimate to help avoid under-buying or over-buying.
Do you help with choosing paint type and finish? +
Yes. We recommend common finishes for walls, ceilings, trim, and doors, and the paint store can also help match products based on durability, sheen, washability, and coverage.
Do you offer a paint store discount? +
In many cases, yes. Ask when booking and we will let you know whether a paint store discount is available and how to use it.
Do you send a confirmation before the job? +
Yes. You’ll get a confirmation with the plan, what to have ready, and any material guidance, including paint store information or discount instructions when applicable.
Can I buy paint anywhere I want? +
Yes. You can purchase paint from any store you prefer. Most customers use Sherwin-Williams, Home Depot, or Lowe’s. Their staff can help with product selection, quantities, and coverage expectations.
What happens if I don’t buy enough paint? +
If paint runs short, we can pause that area or continue with other areas while more is picked up. We always recommend having slightly extra paint ready to avoid downtime and maximize production.
Do I have to buy expensive paint? +
Not always. The right paint depends on the job, the surface, and your goals. We can guide you toward a practical option that balances appearance, coverage, durability, and budget.
Scheduling and How It Works
How quickly can I schedule? +
Often same-day or next-day depending on availability. We schedule 7 days a week in many areas.
Do you work weekends? +
Yes. Weekend scheduling is available based on availability.
Can I add work during the day? +
Yes. If we finish early you can add extra rooms, trim, doors, touch-ups, or handyman punch-list tasks to maximize your day.
What should be done before you arrive? +
Clear small items, choose colors, have paint ready, and confirm access. This maximizes production and helps get more painting completed during your scheduled workday.
Do I need to be home the whole time? +
Not necessarily. Many customers provide access and check in as needed. We confirm the plan upfront so expectations are clear before work begins.
How do you keep communication clear? +
We keep the process straightforward. We confirm the job details, crew size, scope, materials, and expectations clearly before the workday so everyone is on the same page.
What time do painters arrive? +
Arrival times are typically morning start times. Exact timing is confirmed prior to your scheduled workday.
What forms of payment do you accept? +
Most customers pay by card, cash, or approved digital payment methods. Payment is due at the end of the workday once work is completed.
How do I get the fastest quote or game plan? +
The fastest way is to send your address, a short description of what you want done, and a few photos. That usually lets us recommend the right crew size and give you the clearest game plan fast.
Services (Interior, Exterior, Commercial)
What types of painting do you do? +
We offer interior painting, exterior painting, rental turns, move-out paint jobs, and light commercial painting. We also handle drywall repairs, patching, prep work, and small fix-it services as part of the workday when planned properly.
Do you do handyman or punch-list work too? +
Yes. We can often handle small handyman punch-list or fix-it items as time allows during your scheduled workday. The best approach is to mention that scope upfront so we can plan realistically.
Do you work for other paint contractors? +
Yes. We provide production crews for other painting contractors who need more output, faster turnaround, or extra painters on-site.
Can you handle big projects? +
Yes. Larger crews increase production and can complete large scopes quickly when prep, materials, and scheduling are organized.
Do you work on rentals, turnovers, or property management jobs? +
Yes. Our day-rate model is especially useful for landlords, property managers, investors, and rental turnovers because it keeps scheduling fast and production easy to understand.
Do you do touch-ups, trim, and doors too? +
Yes. We can handle walls, ceilings, trim, doors, and touch-ups. Just keep in mind that trim and doors are more detailed and usually take longer than open wall space.
Professionalism, Warranty, and Quality
Do you guarantee your work? +
Yes. We offer a 2 year warranty on workmanship for the work we perform.
What does the 2 year warranty cover? +
It covers workmanship-related issues on the work we performed. Normal wear, water leaks, moisture issues, movement in the structure, or substrate problems outside our control are not workmanship defects.
Is this model cheap painting? +
No. It’s an efficient model. You are paying for production time with experienced painters, not paying for sales overhead, estimate appointments, and inflated markup.
Are your painters experienced? +
Yes. We focus on experienced painters who know how to work efficiently, communicate clearly, stay productive throughout the day, and deliver solid results.
Why do customers feel more comfortable with RentPainter.com? +
Because the process is simple and predictable. No deposit, no pressure sales, transparent day rates, professional equipment, clear communication, and you pay at the end of the day after work is completed.
What is the biggest difference versus traditional painters? +
Traditional painters sell an estimate and a schedule window. We sell production. Our model is built to get real work completed immediately, and if you want more done, you add work while we are there or schedule another day.
What should I expect during the workday? +
Our crews focus on production and efficiency. We protect surfaces, complete agreed work, and keep communication clear throughout the day. Painting is a process, and progress may look unfinished mid-day until coats are completed and the full scope comes together.
What if I’m not satisfied during the job? +
Let us know immediately. We prefer to address concerns while we are on-site so adjustments can be made in real time. Our goal is a completed job you’re happy with before the workday ends.
Is everything completed in one perfect pass? +
Most projects require multiple coats and steps. Final results come together as work progresses throughout the day. We focus on delivering the strongest finished result possible within your scheduled production time.
Why do so many customers like the day-rate model? +
Because it feels straightforward and fair. Customers know what they are paying for, they stay in control of materials, they avoid deposit games, and they see real work completed that same day.
